Interchange Session 1

How interchange began: After a number of words about having a worship academy and passing on what Paul had learned over 20 years of music and worship, He came to the peaceful place of having a relational place of connection, informal discussions based around the reality of bringing gifts and abilities to God. The 'interchange' part came from finding a new word for 'forum'. The word and logo of a traffic junction felt very much like God was calling Paul to bring people together to a central place with a purpose and then releasing them out to their destination.

We continued with a round of sharing of our musical journeys, how we came to bring our gifts into church context.

I really loved the openness and family feel to this session. A really good mix of depth of passion for Jesus as well as fun Oh, yes and of course coffee and cakes!

The overwhelming common thread in everyone's story was the fact that no-one is performing and thinks highly of themselves but love to bring what they have to God... Brilliant!

Dave Brian shared his story and ended with this great verse which was inspirational:

Psalm 45: 1 in the Message bible : “my revelation is that the beauty and goodness will be poured out of my heart shaping the river.”

Paul shared what has become His goal when you read through the reality of David's heart to offer every moment, every thing we do as our worship.

Psalm 63: “You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water. 2 I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory. 3 Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. 4 I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands. 5 I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you. 6 On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night. 7 Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings. 8 I cling to you; your right hand upholds me.”

With this being the reality of our stories together we watched the following youtube clip called “ wrong worship” (See link to this on the interchange 'media' page.)

On reflection of the video, this team is obliviously musically good and the whole thing very tongue in cheek but really does highlight  the danger of being drawn by the music and style that doesn't reach the heart but entertains.

Looking forward to session 2!
